hey - I’m Amy

Scientist, Conservationist, Artist, Teacher, Mom.

I’m here to stretch the limits of what we do as academics, policy makers, conservation practitioners, and humans on this changing planet. I’m building a space for diverse humanity to thrive as we explore issues in science and conservation. I call it the UnInstitute. Let’s find new, exciting, and equitable solutions to our planet’s emerging and expanding problems.

Because shit’s not working and we need a new approach.

aquatic & marine ecosystems in trouble

Humans impact aquatic & marine ecosystems in many ways. I come at ecological problems by first understanding the role humans play in environmental issues and then finding out what we can do differently to fix those problems. Disease is a key focus of my work because human disturbances can unbalance host-pathogen relationships. I work with managers, policy makers, and stakeholders to develop projects, plans, and tools to keep aquatic & marine ecosystems healthy.
